AT&T enhances U-verse international programming with beIN SPORT content

AT&T (NYSE: T) is appealing to U-verse customers who want to watch international sports content by adding beIN SPORT and beIN SPORT en Español to its U-verse TV lineup.

Offered in standard and high definition, U-verse subscribers will be able to access beIN SPORT's coverage of CONMEBOL & CONCACAF World Cup qualifying soccer matches, including USA's clash vs. Costa Rica on Sept. 6, 2013, and round 15 of South American qualifiers.  

In addition, beIN SPORT offers coverage of Spain's La Liga, Italy's Serie A, and France's Ligue 1 among other leagues and competitions.

Current U-verse TV customers will be able to access the beIN SPORT content on Channel 662 in SD/1662 in HD, 3120 in SD/3320 in HD. It will also offer the Spanish-language channel, beIN SPORT en Español, will be available on Channel 663 in SD/1663 in HD, 3119 in SD/3319 in HD.

Serving up more international content is a way for AT&T to differentiate itself from local cable competitors and grow more U-verse subscriptions and revenue. U-verse has been a consistent growth driver in the telco's consumer wireline unit, generating $5.6 billion during the second quarter.
