AT&T turns up hiring for South Carolina's wireline and wireless workforce

AT&T (NYSE: T) is enhancing its South Carolina network staff with plans to hire 70 new employees as it looks to expand both its wireless LTE network and wireline U-verse services throughout the state.

South Carolina has been a major area of growth for the telco. Between 2010 and 2012, it invested over $800 million in the state's wireless and wireline networks.

Pamela Lackey, AT&T South Carolina president, said in a release that "The investment we're making in our wireless and wireline networks is essential to spurring South Carolina's economy and creating jobs."

The Southern states have been an area of continued growth. This hiring drive in South Carolina follows a similar effort AT&T announced last week in North Carolina to add 250 more new members to its workforce who will serve about 30 sites.

AT&T's expansion in the Carolinas reflects the growth it continues to see in wireline business and consumer products such as U-verse TV and broadband, both of which were the stars of its wireline results in Q1 2013.
