Charter, Microsoft founder Paul Allen begins cancer treatment

Best known as the co-founder of Microsoft and later cable MSO Charter Communications, Paul Allen announced this week that he has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and is currently undergoing treatment.

Allen's diagnosis was announced to his Vulcan Inc. employees in a company-wide email on Monday. Best known for co-founding Microsoft in 1975 with Bill Gates, Allen served as an executive at the company until he left in 1983. Since then, he has used Vulcan to fund various business and charitable projects, including his ownership of the Seattle Seahawks football team and the development of a Seattle-based biotech research center.
