Cincinnati Bell sweetens Fioptics TV service with BTN2Go app

Cincinnati Bell (NYSE: CBB) is enhancing the TV Everywhere capabilities of its Fioptics TV service by adding the BTN2Go app, which offers a free 24/7 live simulcast of the Big Ten Network.

With the BTN2Go app, users will be able to get access to all of BTN's programming, including live feeds of game telecasts as well as Extra Football Game Channels.

Subscribers can also get on-demand access to BTN's deep video archive, including current season games from the Big Ten Conference's television partners and original series such as "Big Ten's Best" and "The Big Ten's Greatest Games."

At a time when the telco is seeing its traditional wireline voice revenues decline every quarter, Fioptics has become a major growth initiative. Since the service suite launched in 2008 it has become available to 240,000 homes and businesses in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

During the second quarter, the telco added 5,600 new Fioptics entertainment customers and 6,100 broadband subscribers. As seen at other telcos, Fioptics gains drove up the telco's Q2 2013 wireline revenue to $182 million.
