Cross River Fiber takes aim at New Jersey cable landing stations, adds 50 miles to network

Cross River Fiber has hatched plans to expand its network by over 50 miles to provide connections to local data centers and multiple subsea cabling landing stations.

The expansion will connect over 25 of the company's on-net data centers in New Jersey and New York to multiple subsea cable landing stations along the New Jersey coastline.

Having already completed the route design for this new network, the new facilities will enable Cross River Fiber to offer business and service provider customers a mix of dark fiber and managed network solutions such as optical wavelengths.

A big selling point Cross River Fiber's new route is that is network diversity. A number of competing terrestrial backhaul systems, some of which have been in place for over 20 years from local telco Verizon (NYSE: VZ) and others don't offer similar diversity capabilities.

Upon completing the first phase of construction, Cross Fiver Fiber will be able to provide connectivity to existing, as well as future, subsea cable systems located in the New Jersey towns of Wall, Sea Grit and Manasquan. A second phase is in place that will eventually continue to expand south into Tuckerton, New Jersey.

Cross River Fiber like a number of other emerging area fiber providers like Cleareon and USA Fiber have emerged in recent years to provide alternative services and routes that traditional wireline operators either don't have or have not upgraded existing network infrastructure.

Since its inception, Cross River Fiber has built a series of diverse routes spanning over 350 route miles and 50,000 fiber miles and extending into more than 30 PoPs throughout New Jersey, including financial exchanges, carrier hotels, Enterprise buildings and company-owned wireless infrastructure.
