Hawaiian Telcom introduces managed security bundle for SMBs

Hawaiian Telcom (Nasdaq: HCOM) wants to give SMBs the same security capabilities that larger businesses have with its new multi-threat security bundle.

Even though most SMBs don't have the capital to manage security threats, they still have to adhere to a number of new federal, state and industry regulatory mandates to protect their customer's data and privacy.

"Smaller businesses are more vulnerable to security attacks because cyber criminals know they often lack the budget to invest in adequate protection," said Brad Fisher, Senior VP, Strategy and Marketing for Hawaiian Telcom. "Most business owners don't realize the losses they can incur until they face a security breach due to unauthorized access, malware, viruses, spam and phishing schemes.

The service provider believes that it can help SMBs address these issues with their Multi-Threat Security Bundle (MTSB), a service suite that combines firewall, Intrusion Protection, URL filtering, antivirus protection, in one common package.

To deliver the service, the service provider is leveraging network security appliances and unified threat management (UTM) platforms from Fortinet.

In addition, MTSB provides 24 x 7 networking monitoring and help with what they need to do stay in compliance with security and privacy regulations and state laws.
