New AT&T U-verse app provides DVR on the go for BlackBerry Torch users

TV lovers burning to see their favorite TV show or sporting event don't have to wait until they get home to fire up their DVRs any more. All AT&T (NYSE: T) U-verse customers that subscribe to the U300 package (or higher) and have a BlackBerry Torch now can program their DVRs and record and watch their shows using their smartphones instead.

Also offered to iPhone users last week, the app is available at AT&T stores or online and to Torch users at on BlackBerry App World.TM The new app "lets users take their U-verse TV experience with them," according to an article in Connected Planet

Using any WiFi connection, Torch bearers can use U-verse Mobile to browse the TV program guide, view descriptions of the shows, schedule and manage DVR recordings. They can also download available episodes over the same connection and watch them anywhere. While U-verse TV customers are already able to manage their DVCs from any Web-enabled PC or mobile device.

The app's integration of TV and Blackberry signifies the innovation emanating from U-verse, and it makes good on AT&T's multi-screen promise, according to David Christopher, chief marketing officer, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. And there's more integration to come, he adds, making note that "no cable provider comes close to matching the cross platform experience" that AT&T is serving up.
