"All customers should now be reconnected from our outage this morning. If you still do not have service we ask that you power cycle your modem," TDS said in a Facebook post. "If that doesn't work or you have other issues please call the repair team to assist you at 1-888-CALL TDS. Thank you again for your patience on this situation and we apologize for any problems you had calling in to report the troubles as well."

According to customer Twitter posts, the outage, which began on Sunday affected nine states, with the hardest hit customers in the Southern states.

Customers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina reported they could not access TDS TV and Internet service.

Deanne Boegli, a TDS Telecom spokeswoman, told FierceTelecom in an e-mail that the telco is still looking into what contributed to the outage.

"We are still investigating the root cause today and doing an after event evaluation with the network team," Boegli said. "Yesterday we restored service around 11 a.m. and then troubleshot with customers throughout the day who needed more assistance. "

While the telco maintains it has restored service, a number of TDS Telecom users in its Southern markets such as Mount Juliet, Tenn., and Marble Hill, Ga., said they are still having service issues.

Mount Juliet is an important market for TDS Telecom as it's one of the many markets where it offers its growing 1 Gbps FTTH service. TDS Telecom began offering the 1 Gbps service in Mt. Juliet and La Vergne, Tenn., two markets where it had already offered fiber-based 100 Mbps broadband service, in December 2014.

TDS has advised customers who are still seeing service issues to contact its repair team for help troubleshooting problems.
