TelePacific expands Texas EoC coverage via Alpheus partnership

TelePacific has taken another step forward in its expansion into the lucrative Texas telecom market by expanding its Ethernet over Copper (EoC) footprint into 134 additional Central Offices (COs) through an agreement with fellow CLEC Alpheus Communications.

By adding Alpheus' network to its arsenal, TelePacific will instantly add 129,000 locations to its Texas footprint. This will give the CLEC more opportunities to sell its broader portfolio of IP-based MPLS, cloud and network continuity services.

"With Alpheus, we can give Texas SMBs cost-effective, guaranteed bandwidth that they can use as the foundation for all the advanced communications customers depend on," said Philip Ross, president of TelePacific Texas, in a release.

Already a well-established player in California and Nevada, TelePacific has been aggressively establishing a presence in the Texas business market. TelePacific had to make some bold moves to expand into Texas.

In 2011, it purchased Texas-based TelWest, a move that immediately gave the CLEC a part in the Texas business services market and access to more than 3,400 business customers.

Since completing the purchase and the subsequent integration of the TelWest assets last July, the service provider has continued to enhance its presence in Texas, with new offices in Fort Worth, Dallas, Corpus Christi and San Antonio added to major presences in Austin and Houston.
