Verizon asked by panel to modify FiOS speed, picture quality claims

Verizon (NYSE: VZ) has been asked by the National Advertising Review Board to revise a number of its FiOS ads following a complaint by Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA).

NARB recommended changes for claims Verizon made about two key items: FiOS rates as number one in internet speed, and TV service rated number one in HD picture quality. According to Verizon, these claims are based on PC Magazine's Reader's Choice Survey.

Today, Verizon's top FiOS speed is only 500 Mbps, while Comcast is now rolling out 1 Gbps, DOCSIS 3.1-based services. FierceCable has this report.
